Where can I get free Internet access in Ottawa?

Libraries:

  • Ottawa libraries offer free Internet access.
  • Some Internet terminals ask you for a library card number before you can connect to the Internet. If you have an address you can get a library card.
  • If you don't have an address you can still get a library card that will allow you to access just the internet.
  • Even if you don't have a library card many libraries have Internet terminals that you can use for a short without a card.
  • Where are the libraries?

  • St. Luke's Lunch Club - 760 Somerset West
  • Open Door - 755 Somerset West
  • St. Joe's Women's Centre - 151 Laurier Avenue East
  • Centretown Community Health Centre - 420 Cooper Street

Some of these places have volunteers that will help you if you need assistance with the internet.

How can I connect my computer to the internet?

If you can get a computer that has a modem (piece of equipment you need to plug in to the internet) you can get a free internet account with the National Capital FreeNet.
